Roger De Liso: Coolest Kid on the Playground
Dateline: 06-10-04
A great player and a wonderful person, Roger DeLiso had his going-away event at Bellingham's  Wild Buffalo this past Tuesday. The list of friends included many notables from Whatcom and Skagit Counties. Stevie Meyer, Johnny Brewer, Gary B and Dave Brown joined DeLiso for his first set...so many wanted to play with him (he IS the coolest kid on the playground) that it took 2 sets and a rotating stage to get everyone up with Roger. The performances were all stellar with some astounding dynamics and jaw dropping guitar work by both Brewer and DeLiso...those two guys are amazing on-stage together!

The next DeLiso set included Texas Jimmy D and Marvin Johnson to start. Roger used his magic powers to wrangle Laurette Langille from the smoke pen and got her to sing, always a blues show stopper! After a few more tunes, Jimmy stepped off stage for Johnny and Roger to have a last song together, as Jimmy had performed over the weekend with Roger at the BamBam Motorcycle Run in Nugents Corner at The Little Roadside.

Roger has been studying at the Fairhaven extension of WWU for a couple of years and is going back to his home state of Michigan to be with his father. Roger will be missed and hopefully, will return to us in the not too distant future. Contact info will be available from Roger before he leaves this month. Best of luck and happiness to a true friend!
