Badd Dog Has His (Birth) day
by Terry Easterwood
Andy "Badd Dog" Koch will celebrate his 50th birthday with a bash at Bellingham's Wild Buffalo House of Music on Saturday, February 26. The  blues man will be fronting his Badd Dog Blues Society at the venue where he also works to help bring a variety of acts to Northwest Washington.

What might be considered a milestone for anyone is especially noteworthy, considering a  turn of events during the recent January snowstorm that coincided with Andy's high school reunion in Seattle. Andy made it no further than just south of Bellingham on I-5, when his truck spun and left the road leaving him hanging upside down suspended from his seat belt.  Although most people might consider this to have been bad luck, the eternal optimist that is Mr. Koch counted himself "one lucky dog."

In spite of vehicular challenges, the Badd Dog Blues Society made a recent gig at Friday Harbor, Koch was a special guest of Marvin Johnson's jam at Desperados in Sumas, was an impromptu opening act for the Candye Kane show at the Wild Buffalo and made the double-border-crossing gig at Kiniski's Reef Tavern in Point Roberts.

     On
Saturday, February 26th, 2005 the Badd Dog will have his day at his "home bass," the Wild Buffalo. Blues aficionados who are ready to hear Koch's low-down harp, barking blues guitar and cantankerous keys with special guests and the solid backing of the Badd Dog Blues Society should make a night of it at the Holly Street venue (sporting it's new food menu and full bar.)
