March Art Auction in memory of
Long John Baldry

     Starting March 1st and running until March 31st, you may bid to own an original painting of Long John Baldry by Canadian artist Mary Jean Brown. It is the last known painting of Long John since his sudden passing on July 21st of last year from an incurable chest infection. His deep soulful voice has inspired many great rock stars such as Rod Stewart, Elton John, and many more. "To portray John, I tried to find some of the color in his wonderful and unforgettable voice - earthy, rich and strong," states portrait artist Mary Jean Brown. proceeds from the auction will go to the Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) Intensive Care Unit, and the Depression Research facility.

     Long John Baldry's memory will be honored by the creation of an everlasting memorial, listing his name in perpetuity on the donor walls at VGC and UBC Hospital. "Bidding will start at $4,000 and we're hoping to reach a significant dollar amount for this extraordinary painting and special tribute. The staff at the VGH made it possible for John to pass on with dignity and peace," says Frank Garcia, former manager and friend. All bids are confidential and secured. The winning bid will be announced immediately after the auction ends on March 31st.
