Portland, Oregon blues fans are already savvy to the hip sounds of the Rose City Kings. The Cascade Blues Society voted the Rose City Kings their 'Best Contemporary Blues Act'. Audiences in the Northwestern corner of Washington State have an opportunity to hear the blues band at the Rockfish Grill (320 Commercial in Anacortes) on Friday, August 5th. The performance caps off the abundant live entertainment available throughout the day at the Anacortes Arts Festival.

With three CD releases in three short years, it's hard to believe these bluesters still have the steam left to hit the road regularly. But hit the road they do, and regularly, to festivals and clubs.

Don Berkery is the lead vocalist and lead guitar player for the Rose City Kings. He's been an active songwriter for decades and contributes original material to the band. His screaming slide guitar has been impressing Northwest blues fans and giving an edginess to the groups songlist.

You'll see at a live show that everyone else in the band also sings background vocals for that fat sound. Ron Camacho provides the heartbeat of the band on bass, Roger E (Espinor) is vital on drums, Joe Powers gives that classic sound to the group with harmonica and Jeff Simonson is the Rose City Kings keyboard player.

Music will kick off at 9pm on the Rockfish Grill stage. That should just give you enough time to bolt from the Anacortes Arts Festival Main Stage 7-9pm show of D.K. Stewart,
if you leave it a few minutes early.
