| 2005 This year the Howlin' Tomcat Orchestra celebrates bluesman Daddy Treetops birthday at one of their favorite down home venues in Skagit Valley. Fans on the I-5 corridor will have an opportunity to catch the King of the Nooksack Delta Blues birthday festivities on Saturday, Dec.3rd at the Old Edison Inn in Bow-Edison, WA. Although Daddy Treetops is a well known solo blues roots player, he has lent his talents to many regional blues bands over the years on both guitar and stand-up bass. His own band, The Howlin' Tomcats, has had few musician changes over the decades and has backed up the Seattle Bluesman onstage everywhere from the woods outside Alger, Wa to the Mural Amphitheatre main stage at Bumbershoot in Seattle. Daddy Treetops "Aging Gracefully" dates will feature Tall Paul Laugharne on drums, Stevie Otis Meyer on piano, and Ed Smith on bass or guitar (as the situation requires.) Tree's birthday events usually include some special guests he's invited and are always memorable performances. The Howlin' Tomcats has a long blues history in Whatcom, Skagit and King counties and has also included drummers Jim Plano and Russell Marshall, bassist David Hayes, demon fiddler Jon Perry, and harmonica vocalist Mark DuFresne. Blues singer Laurette Langille has been a frequent guest of the band as has Seattle producer and drummer Stephanie. Daddy Treetops web site |
