Northwest Washington Blues Group Gathered in September

The Northwest Washington Blues Group (nw_wablues) at Yahoo Groups had their first physical gathering in September outside of Bellingham, WA. The private nw_wablues email membership discusses blues news, blues shows and some nuts and bolts of the blues scene in the upper Northwest corner of the state. The small but diverse membership includes blues musicians, booking agents, blues fans, blues record collectors, blues dj's and more.      The September 10th, 2005 gathering offered delicious food and an outdoor jam session in a crisp, autumn setting surrounded by lush green trees. Introductions by real names were quickly augmented with cyber-names, followed by "Oh-h, that's you? I loved what you posted about...." Live entertainment on the stage was coordinated by Texas Jimmy Drounette, while host Airplane Dave Brown was kept busy either on stage playing bass or at the BBQ grill cooking.      The live music was supported by Airplane Daves PA and bass rig, Jade Wailers keyboards and drum kit from George Clark...and what a great blues jam it was! Guests Pat McFarland and Fat James mixing it up onstage with nw_wablues members like Terry Easterwood, David Payne, Rick Banauch, Mary McPage, Roger Gavin, Gary B, Jon Grover, and many more members and guests. Numerous stage and audience moments were captured in photos viewable to members at the nw_wablues homepage. (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nw_wablues)      Offstage discussions abounded with various directions and forms the group might take in the future. The mood was exuberant, friendly and non-competitive. All in all, a good day for blues fans. About NW_WABLUES Membership:     It's free. Members can choose to receive individual posts in their email box  or choose to recive no email and read posts at the groups site, post their own messages, links and more.    Only members can read the messages posted to the site or access the groups database.    Members can post links which will hopefully create quite a blues data base as membership grows. The hope is that a local forum for blues fans and players will benefit all of the participants and promote blues in the Northwest corner of Washington State. Moderators of the site are approving all new members, the approval step is only there to prevent spamming and hostile posts.    A yahoo email address/identity is needed, but this is a free account and has the advantage of keeping your current ISP email private and unpublished. If you do not sign in to your yahoo id for 4 monthes, the account will close, but you can reactivate it.
