Saturday, March 12th, was a happening evening for the
Cathouse Blues Band, Adian Clarke's 7:00 A.M. Band, The Wild Buffalo House of Music and blues lovers from all over the Northwest. The capacity crowd danced, swayed, grooved and partied prooving once again that upbeat blues, funk and original rock has not diminished in it's appeal to people tired of the usual mundane covers or the musical blasphemy of punk and rap bands so prevalent in this area.

The Cathouse Band, running nine members strong, opened the evening with a funky number introducing and showcasing it's double-barrelled group. Solo performances by Seattle's #1 tenor sax player Scotty Harris, Fat James keyboardist Dave Cashin, Bellevue's #1 trumpet John Frike and Bellingham's own Adrian Clarke on lead guitar brought the house down from the first set to the finnish. The awesome bass work by Rob Moitoza accompanied by drummer George Clark and band leader/lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist Kurt Aemmer provided a rock-solid foundation for the rest of this all star lineup. Also on lead vocals were regulars Ibi Ojikuto and Heather Maher, bringing the band class that no other in Whatcom County has.

An allready exciting evening was punctuated at 11:30pm when representatives from the Washington Blues Society (WBS) presented Kurt with
2005 BB (Best of Blues) nominations for best blues vocals and best blues songwriter. The Cathouse Blues Band then received their 2004 nomination for best blues CD. Kurt's fiancee Rebecca Schlotterback got one for best graphics on the Cathouse's second CD Take It Downtown. The WBS also presented Rob Moitoza and Scotty Harris with 2004 nominations for best bass and best horn.

Wow! It didn't slow down there 'cause, after a short intermission,
Adrian Clarke and 7:00 A.M. stormed the stage and lit the audience once more for the final set. Beefy bass work by Dave (Sid) Miller along with the artistry of drummer Eric Vanderstrom complimented Adrian's profound mastery on lead guitar and vocals. They provided the perfect ending to this exceptionally successful evening at Bellingham's premier night spot, the Wild Buffalo.
