Wednesday, September 22nd, I had a chance to see a local band at the Grand Avenue Alehouse in downtown Bellingham. For only $2, we were treated to a great performance by The Sweethearts of the Rodeo. These young, energetic performers played a mix of rock, country and originals.

With Stell Newsome on guitar and vocals, Ben Wildenhous on keys and accordian, Bruce Shaw on bass and Tom Forst on drums (names provided by Stell) this groove oriented, soulful band put on a tight, tasty show. Loren Huggins joined the band on guitar and vocals for a very raw and real version of "Whiskey River" and "Helpless." As Stell and Loren, walked the tables side by side the energy of the room was electric. Then Loren stepped off the table and Stell went onto his shoulders...that's what I said! This happened during killer guitar work, the crowd was mesmerized. Fun stuff!

Well worth the time and a truly entertaining show by all of the talented performers. Look for them around town!
