| If you want to know something about rock n' roll, especially Northwest and Canadian rock, Wedge Michaels is the guy you need to talk to. It's been the subject that has always mattered to him, long before his many years as a popular rock n'roll personality in the Pacific Northwest. If you need to find a rare song or recording, blues or rock, he'll be the guy who has several copies. He collects vinyl, CD's and even those disrespected 8-track tapes! But first and foremost, Wedge is a pro-drummer, studio player, singer and songwriter. He has faultless rhythm. He really does. He also has a fabulous groove instinct which makes him a popular drummer at any gig or jam he shows up at. You can hear this Skagit Valley drummer these days backing up Jim Bassnight touring throughout the western United States. You may have heard him in the past with slide guitarist Hambone Wilson gigging around the northwest. In fact they did quite a few gigs with legend Evan Johns. You can also hear Wedge playing on the Wailers most recent CD, Cadillac to Mexico. Other bands along the way have included The Dynamic Logs, Nick Vigarino's Meantown Blues, The Beachcombers, and Rogue Paradise Blues. Wedge had the opportunity to play drums for the 2002 Bo Diddley concert at the Dakota Creek Roadhouse with bassist Jim Lindquist...and had a blast! |
